The Nigeria Leadership Excellence Awards (NLEA) is anchored on a robust, multi-layered governance framework designed to ensure credibility, transparency, and institutional integrity at every stage of its operations. Strategic direction and institutional oversight are provided by a distinguished Advisory Board made up of respected figures from across governance, academia, private sector, and civil society. However, in line with global best practices, the Advisory Board does not interfere in the selection of winners, preserving the independence of the evaluation process.

The responsibility for assessing nominees rests solely with an Independent Selection Jury composed of seasoned professionals and subject-matter experts. Their role is to rigorously evaluate all shortlisted candidates based on defined criteria—impact, integrity, innovation, leadership, and sustainability—ensuring that every recognition is grounded in measurable achievement and demonstrable value.
